We walk through the mind

Why was "Caminamos por la Mente" (We Walk for the Mind) created?
Mental health is part of our lives. It accompanies us at every stage, influences how we feel, think, and relate, and is one of the great social and health challenges of our time.
Promoting emotional well-being, preventing mental health problems, and advancing research requires the joint involvement of professionals, institutions, and citizens.
From the @slowmindart Association, we believe that art, physical activity, and community participation are tools capable of creating spaces for connection, strengthening social bonds, and promoting healthy lifestyle habits.
With this purpose, "Caminamos por la Mente" (We Walk for the Mind) was born, a solidarity initiative that combines physical activity, emotional well-being, social awareness, and commitment to research.
The central action of the project will be the completion of the Portuguese Coastal Way, from Baiona to Santiago de Compostela, in September 2027, coinciding with the Jacobean Holy Year.
Every step will be a gesture of support for mental health; every kilometer, an opportunity to raise awareness; and every donation, a contribution to advancing research.
The Challenge
In September 2027, a group of 20 people will walk the Portuguese Coastal Way from Baiona to Santiago de Compostela.
The route will be approximately 120 kilometers long, divided into 6 consecutive stages:
Baiona → Vigo → Arcade → Pontevedra → Caldas de Reis → Padrón → Santiago de Compostela.
More than a sporting challenge, it is an experience of coexistence, commitment, and awareness regarding mental health.
Each stage represents a physical and symbolic advancement towards a common goal: giving visibility to mental health and supporting scientific research.
"Much more than a Camino"
During the journey, activities focused on emotional well-being, coexistence, and self-care will be incorporated:
- Personal reflection dynamics.
- Spaces for meeting and dialogue.
- Mobility and physical recovery sessions.
- Group cohesion activities.
The Camino thus becomes an integral experience that combines physical activity, health, community, and social purpose.
