CATHARSIS

50x70 cm

Acrylic

"Catharsis” inhabits the emotional territory of deep release. It is a work that does not remain in containment or in the wound, but moves through emotional excess to reach a state of discharge. It does not speak of immediate calm, but of the necessary act of letting go: expelling what has been accumulated in order to recover inner space.

The composition conveys intense, overflowing movement. The gestures appear impulsive, almost urgent, as if emotion has exceeded its limit and needs to manifest without filters. There is no rigid control or closed form; everything expands, crosses, breaks, and reshapes itself. The work feels like a moment of emotional rupture that, rather than destroying, allows one to breathe again.

The use of color reinforces this sense of release. Strong contrasts and layered surfaces evoke emotions that have been held in for a long time and finally emerge: anger, pain, desire, relief. They do not appear in an orderly way, but simultaneously, reflecting the complexity of the cathartic moment, where multiple emotions are released at once.

Texture plays a key role in “Catharsis.” The surface appears worked insistently, as if each gesture were a way of emptying oneself emotionally. There is a clear physicality: emotion is not abstract here—it feels bodily, intense, almost exhausting. Yet within that exhaustion, a sense of relief and emotional cleansing also emerges.

Emotionally, “Catharsis” speaks of transformation through expression. It does not propose avoiding emotional excess, but consciously moving through it. The work acknowledges that healing sometimes does not come from calm, but from allowing emotion to be released without censorship.

“Catharsis” invites the viewer to recognize the need to release what weighs heavily, to accept emotional overflow as part of the process. It is a work about what comes after inner collapse: that moment when, after letting everything go, space is created for something new.
